Schools
Available for students in secondary education. All the following events are perfect for critical thinking or enrichment days. We are happy to advise which Murder Mystery, Puzzle Hunt, Strive for Five or Treasure Trail will be suitable to your requirements.
Murder Mystery
A great form of lateral thinking, a 'whodunnit' will really get the students' little grey cells working!
'Inspector Jager' will select a few students to act out a short playlet with her (these students can still take part in the whodunnit). After the performance, everyone receives a copy of the story, clues and statements to study. Throughout the session, Inspector Jager will be on hand to answer questions. If the group ask her the right questions, she will give them the answers they need to solve the crime.
The winners each receive a certificate.
Groups can either be in teams or work as a whole class. The group/class with the highest score will be announced at the end of the day. (Maximum 10 teams of 8 students)
The session will be 2 hours.

Puzzle Hunts
What is a Puzzle Hunt?
The event takes place indoors.* Teams of 2 - 8 students pit their wits against each other with a series of puzzles and brain teasers. The winners are the team who complete the challenges in the quickest time. Alternatively, each class can work as one big team and the class that completes the most puzzles, or finishes them all in the fastest time, will be announced at the end of the day.
Anyone can take part. The best results will come from the group who idenitifies a leader, discovers the strengths and weaknesses of their team and work together to finish the puzzles quickly and efficiently.
(*if requested events can be held outside, weather permitting).
The Puzzle Hunts
Each Puzzle Hunt is themed around a country or city as follows:
Mexican Mystery - first discover which Mexican city you are 'travelling' to, search this City for clues. The clues will lead you to a hidden code that must be cracked to find the lost gold!
Edinburgh Enigma - Search for famous Scots before exploring the Royal Mile and Leith Docks. Your final puzzle leads you to a famous Edinburgh landmark where the treasure is hidden.
Lost in London - Armed with a guide book and tube map, travel the famous sites of London. What you learn along the way will help you unearth the treasure.
Also available Lost in London - Again and Lost in Long-ago London.
Can you crack the codes, solve the puzzles and find the treasure?
Session is between 1 and 2 hours.
Strive for Five
Teams complete 5 rounds - 'Thinking Outside the Box', 'It Takes Two', 'Five of a Kind', 'Picture This', and 'Don't Lose Your Head'.
In each round individuals or teams identify 5 items or themes and what they have in common.
Thinking Outside the Box - A grid with 25 items needs to be sorted into 5 groups and the connection for each group explained.
It Takes Two - From 2 grids each team must pair 5 sets of themes. One half of each pair is in opposite grids. What connects them?
Strive for Five - A simple case of explaining what 5 items have in common. (There are 10 puzzles to complete in this round).
Picture This - Five pictures are all connected. Explain what each picture is representing and then what connects all five.
Don't Lose Your Head - Each column of words has lost it's head - there are 25 heads to put back on!
This can be done like a quiz and completed as separate timed rounds, or the whole thing set against the clock.
Session is between 1 and 2 hours.
Treasure Trails
A great way for students to exercise mind and body!
Armed with a set of questions, students will explore their local town or village (or somewhere further afield, if you wish).
Teams set off at 5 minute intervals. Their start and finish times are recorded. The team with the highest score are the winners. However, in the event of a tie, the fastest team wins. Strategy is required. Which will they choose to be - Tortoise or Hare?!
This encourages students to investigate parts of villages, towns and cities that they have never seen before, whilst discovering more of the history of that area.
Certificates and prizes for the winning team. (Maximum 8 to a team).
Session is a whole morning or afternoon.
